Special Education is part of the total educational program of the district. The goal of special education is to provide programs and services to students with handicaps which will maximize their potential to lead productive, meaningful, and self-fulfilling lives. The student's needs are met by the resource teacher who follows the student's Individual Educational Plan (IEP). Some students are seen by the psychologist or speech therapist along with the resource teacher, depending on their strengths and weaknesses. The goal of the program is to remediate the student's needs in the least restrictive environment and obtain the successful departure of the child from the program.
