Kindergarten at Wilder is a place to explore the worlds of literacy, mathematics, science and social studies. It's a place to learn about being friends, helping each other and sharing. Children here love to play, sing, work and learn. In Wilder's kindergarten children blossom and flourish as they grow more independent.
The exploration of literacy encompasses auditory and visual discrimination, letter sounds, phonemic awareness, sequencing, oral language and development of early reading skills. Math areas of exploration include patterning, matching, shape identification, measurement, graphing, addition and subtraction, number sense, time and money. Social studies and science lend themselves to many areas of exploration. Such as the following: self, home and family, holidays, United States heritage, seasons, weather, plants, animals, and the sun, moon, day and night.
Using exploration activities in a well-balanced program we strive to create enthusiastic, independent and creative learners. Kindergarten at Wilder is a positive, productive and friendly place in which children can develop the skills that they will need to succeed in first grade.
