 Holiday Gift Bags Delivered! Minimize

Wilder "elves" filled Mrs. Ambron's office (and a schoolbus!) to overflowing by shopping for goodies to go into 75 Holiday Gift Bags!  A big thank you to all of our families who worked to make the holiday bright for many kids this year!

 Science Erupts at Wilder! Minimize

Once again, scientist extraordinaire, Mr. Steve Spangler, wowed a packed house at the K-2 Science Fair Boot Camp on Wednesday, November 12.  Mrs. Ambron never knows what to expect when Mr. Spangler comes to school, and she and the kids were certainly not disappointed when he (very carefully and with all safety precautions in place) poured hot water into a tub of liquid nitrogen on the stage.

The eruption instantly reached the gym ceiling, leaving it dripping, as the massive white cloud quickly cascaded onto the audience of kids sitting on the floor. Students were shocked and excited as the cloud rolled over their heads.  “It was pitch white! I couldn’t see a thing!” exclaimed one first grade student who couldn’t hide an enormous grin.

After such a thrilling performance, it was a wonder that everyone was able to make their way to their classrooms to show off their own scientific discoveries.  The classroom science project boards were a big hit with parents and siblings alike.  Thank you to Mr. Spangler and all of our teachers for their significant scientific contributions!

Wilder Student Council helps at Santa Shop! Minimize

By Michael

 Student Body Treasurer

On Tuesday, December 9th the Wilder Student Council members and their families converged on the Arapahoe County Santa Claus Shop in Littleton and lent a hand with various chores. You see, this Santa Claus shop provides less fortunate families a chance to provide a great Christmas for their children. It is filled with new and gently used toys. The week before Christmas, local families in need will have the opportunity to come and “shop” for Christmas.

As we arrived, we were all given a task. Morgan H. and I sorted stuffed animals, while our sisters were making treat sacks. Mrs. Chittick, Mrs. Boorom and Grace B. were putting book packs together. Chloe H. and her mom were washing the stuffed animals that needed extra care. Wilder students, staff and parents were lending a hand and having fun!

The ladies who organize the shop were so thankful for all of the help and donations from Wilder. The store was bustling with helpers and toys that will soon be a part of someone’s Christmas. This truly was the spirit of Christmas in the works and the student council members received a gift, as well. The gift of giving. It was a great experience and I hope it will be a new student council tradition.
